2 Years Ago Today...

We got engaged! I absolutely love this story and couldn't have even wished for a more exciting or more romantic engagement if I tried! Russell really got me on this one....The nut shell version, he flew to WA (where I was a nanny at the time), and completely surprised me. He had the perfect excuses why he couldn't talk to me that day and I fell for every one of them. My parents kept me occupied, which of course included shopping! My parents were even sneaking around all day and I didn't catch on once....not until someone banged on the door at 11:30 at night and my dad answered and said it was for me. When I opened the door there was a note that said "Mand, please follow the path...Ps. I love you"
I thought I knew immediately what was going on. I started running down the steps and realized I was in my pajamas and without shoes! (I just realized this is really not the nut shell version). So I put on my dad's shoes and start running as I followed the rose petal path to our sunken fire pit/camping spot. The trees were lit, music was playing, roses and candles were on the table and as I came down the hill Russell came out from behind a tree. This was our conversation: Me "What are you doing here?!!" Russell "....(silence)..." He hugged me, then got down on one knee and with tears in his eyes asked me to marry him! I'll never forget the way he looked that night, I can still see it now. I was and still am the luckiest girl. I'm so glad I got to marry best friend and keep him for eternity!

I love you Russell!

March of Dimes

A few Saturday's ago we did the March of Dimes! March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. Their goal is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. My work was a local sponsor so it was great to see so many people I work with out walking for babies!

These are the ladies from Curves...they "warmed us up"
It was pretty hysterical!

Waiting for the walk to start! These are two of my work friends, Katy & Lani

Utah State University Dietetic Internship

I'm not sure why I was waiting to post about this, especially since it's the biggest news for us right now. I was accepted as an Intern back in April and the reality is just beginning to set in. If you remember from an earlier post, I applied to 4 different schools. Utah State was my first choice but I had completely talked myself out of the idea of getting accepted. I was the very last student to interview and I felt confident that I did well but I knew that only FOUR students would be accepted. In my mind I told myself we were moving to Tennessee (Vanderbilt was my second choice and I knew my odds of being accepted there were high). When the night came for us to find out, Russell listened to my heart beat and said "It's normal, are you not nervous?" I then listened to his heart and it was racing so fast! At that point I told myself that if I wasn't accepted, then it was meant to be that way. But I was accepted and I couldn't believe it. It was truly an answer to our prayers and a deliverance from a trial that started in December. I am so grateful for this opportunity! I begin the internship November 2nd, but with orientation a few weeks away I'm keeping busy with lots of homework! (I thought that would end after graduation, darn!) Here's a pic after I found out I was accepted...I think I was in shock.
