Tis the Season

Getting ready for Christmas....

My mom came to visit the first weekend in December! We took her to see A Christmas Carol, which was SO good! Russell works with the man who played Scruge.

The gingerbread house Russell made....it's modeled after "Water House" or whatever that house is called with the waterfall in it!

We exchanged sibling gifts with Russell's family early this year so we also gave our niece and nephew their gifts early too!

Life has kept us pretty busy but we are hanging in there. If you're looking for a dental school update, Russell is on five waiting lists. Yes, five! We've been struggling as to where to go from here and we pray he gets in to one of the schools! We hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas! We love you all!

Thanksgiving

Well since it's almost Christmas, I figured I should probably blog about Thanksgiving. I've been terrible at blogging since my internship started! We flew to Denver to spend Thanksgiving with my brother this year...it was great to get out of Utah and it was surprisingly warm in Colorado!

Doug & Hailey cooking Thanksgiving dinner!
This is one of the only pictures I took while we were in Denver! Sad, I know! We relaxed, shopped, watched BYU beat Utah and saw The Blind Side (loved it)! Thanks for having us Doug & Hailey!

Happy Birthday Russell

Russell's BIRTHDAY was last Sunday! He said 26 feels a lot older than 25 :)

As if he didn't already know his gifts...

Shoes from my parents-THANKS!

Russell loves Angel Food cake with chocolate frosting-weird.
Sophia helped him blow out the candles

Spencer & Russell waiting for their cake!

A Work of Art

Well, it's finally done! Russell made this entry table for me, for our 2 year Anniversary! I absolutely love it! It even has a drawer-but we still need to go buy a handle. He'd never made anything really like this, so I was and am very impressed! Thanks babe!

I've always wanted an entry table...and now I finally have one!

Oh and in case you thought Russell's mustache on Halloween was fake...it wasn't! I just used some mascara to make it black! Ps. I'm so glad he's shaved it since!

Love Me Knot Boutique

I've been a little slow going on posting this but ready or not, here it is:

This is the logo of my very own business! :) I've had a lot of fun with this so far and it's definitely kept me busy....so I guess you want to know what it is, right? Well you can check it out on Facebook by searching: Love Me Knot Boutique
Together with my fabulous mother we have designed and are making custom knit headbands...

I saw these in Layer's winter line last year and I tore it out and put it in my "Idea Book." I told my mom I wanted to learn how to make them...and well I finally have. Remember the post about me teaching myself to knit? Well there is now fruit from my labor. These are just coming to the forefront of fashion right now. They are typically replacing the "indian/warrior" style headband that was popular this summer. And I even spotted one in a commercial the other day and at the BYU vs. TCU football game! The wide headband is shown but I also make medium and skinny bands as well as double flowers. My color supply seems to be growing daily, so you want it, I probably have it! The skinny bands look adorable on babies...and this look is just perfect for Fall & Winter.

A weekend apart

While Russell was in Indiana this past weekend, I flew home to surprise my mom! No one was supposed to know except my dad...but one thing led to another and quite a few people ended up knowing :) But I was able to surprise Brynley, Kylee and Kennedy...their faces were pretty priceless. I think my body is still recuperating from the weekend, as it involved many activities and little sleep.

After surprising my mom (she had no idea, it was fantastic!) we went to the Cheesecake Factory. It was a first for all of us and we loved it!

Next stop...that's right, we saw WICKED!

We absolutely loved it! I want to see it again and again!

This is my dad at the Farmer's Market the next day. We love the Yakisoba, I dont even know what it is but it's SO good!

This is me in a helicopter! My cousin Mike owns a flight school in Olympia and his dad, my Uncle Pat owed me a ride...he shot me in the eye with a marshmallow gun several years ago!

It was absolutely amazing

We got SO low over the bay!

Black Lake: the lake I grew up playing on and in!
We spent that night with the Shakespeare's! I was so busy playing with the girls I forgot to take pictures! I was so sad when I realized it! We got to see pics of their soon-to-be new house, I can't wait to see it at Christmas, along with thier new baby boy :)

We also made it to a Mariners game!

Complete with Kettle Corn and my Russell replacement!

Seattle in the background and Ivar's fish n' chips for dinner!
The black hawk helicopters that flew over after the national anthem!

My parents sweet seats! I believe this was Griffey up to bat!He had a home run!

Trying to stay warm, it got pretty chilly!

My dad was able to get a single seat two seats in front of us! Thanks for not making me sit by myself :)

And just when you thought we couldn't do anymore...we also made it to Salmon Days with my cousin Kerry!

The sunset was amazing the night I flew back to Utah. But of course the pilot took a hard right turn as I was trying to snap a good shot! Russell's interview in Indiana went well! He is in the airport waiting to fly home from USC, right now. He really loved USC, so we'll see what happens! He did get an interview with Creighton, and that is scheduled for Monday and is luckily at the U and not in Nebraska! I'm anxious to have my husby back, I'm so lonely without him.

Finally Fall

Fall is my absolute favorite season! As the Summer sun fades away I can't help but think of my favorite fall things: leaves galore, pumpkin patches, wearing long sleeves, football, walks in the canyon, cute boots, reds, oranges and yellows, caramel apple ciders, time with family, snuggling up to a crackling fire, hay rides and corn mazes! I'm not much of a Halloween person, but I sure do LOVE Fall! Here are some recent Fall happenings in our lives...
Russell's first intramural football game of the season!

It was much hotter then we anticipated...he was sweaty, but victorious!

Little stylin' Sophia in her Fall clothes! I asked her to say "cheese" and this is what she did haha!

Russell on his way to NYU! The interview went well, although he felt the city itself was "stressful." His interview with Louisville also went well, it was relaxed and he liked the idea of preclinical work in the first year. He has an informational meeting with a faculty member from Creighton University tomorrow, which will hopefully produce an interview, as it did last year!

A trip up Provo canyon...it was beautiful!

Our camera has many issues, blurriness is one of them! But you're still so cute Russell :)

Gwendolyn Bisel Stephens
Russell's grandmother passed away last week. It was both a sad and happy time for the family, as she had dementia for several years and her husband passed about 12 years ago (I think that is right). I will never forget her sweet spirit and tiny feet! I am grateful for the many things she taught her children and grandchildren while she was on this earth. She truly left a legacy with us.
